Continuous Glucose Monitors

Continuous Glucose Monitors

Testing your blood sugar has never been easier!

Traditionally, glucose monitoring has been a hassle. You had to deal with damaged or expired test strips and (worst of all) prick your finger multiple times a day to get the right amount of blood to test — assuming that you’ve even gotten over your fear of needles.

But with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), you don’t have to worry about any of that. When you place the small sensor on the back of your arm, you can scan it with your easy-to-use reader for real-time glucose levels 24/7. No painful finger pricks, just the information you need to manage your diabetes and live a healthier life.

We carry a variety of Dexcom and FreeStyle CGMs.

Dexcom G6 system

This cutting-edge continuous glucose monitoring system consists of three main components: a small, discreet sensor; a wireless transmitter; and a receiver or compatible smart device.

The sensor is worn on the body with a small filament inserted just beneath the skin, where it monitors glucose levels and provides accurate and real-time data. The Dexcom G6 sensor is typically inserted on the abdomen.

The transmitter is attached to the sensor and sends glucose readings from the sensor to the receiver or a compatible smart device. Because it’s water-resistant, patients can wear it while bathing or swimming without interruption.

Which CGM is right for me?

When choosing the right CGM for you, there are many factors to consider.

calendar-icon-circle2

Length of wear: Depending on your lifestyle, you may opt for a CGM with a longer window of wear before requiring replacement. Those who travel less frequently or aren’t as busy may not be particularly concerned about how often their CGM should be replaced.

Insulin pump integration: When your CGM is integrated with your insulin pump, it can automatically suspend insulin delivery when it detects impending hypoglycemia, reducing the risk of severe low blood sugar episodes.

Smartphone integration

Smartphone integration: Many CGM wearers appreciate the convenience of having their CGM data delivered directly to their smartphones.

Data sharing

Data sharing: Data sharing makes it easier for your care team to access your CGM data to look for patterns and recommend changes in insulin dosage, food choices, time of day you eat, or other behaviors.

Water resistance

Water resistance: Water-resistant CGMs make it easier to bathe or swim without having to worry about removing the device.
